Got a legal question? Or think you might have one? I’m Pat, and odds are, I’ve seen something close to your problem before.
Most lawyers spend a career going deeper into one narrow lane, such as securities, IP, or personal injury, until they can barely see past it.
I went the other way. Before law school, I spent five years working in business, not studying it from the outside. Since then, I’ve spent twenty five years across public defense, nonprofit counsel, corporate transactional work, and serving as in house counsel at several companies, often doing both jobs at once: businessman and lawyer. That combination taught me how the pieces actually connect: contracts, business formation, disputes, a letter that needs sending, or a situation where somebody already tried to handle it themselves, or hired the wrong lawyer, and now it’s worse.
I’m not an ivory tower lawyer. I’ve sat on the other side of the table, making payroll and closing deals, not just reading about it.
It also taught me that a good part of practicing law is managing people and their personalities, not just the legal issue in front of you.
I’m not going to pretend I can do everything. But odds are I’ve seen something close to your problem before, and I’ll tell you straight whether I’m the right person for it or not.
Given all of that, it’s why Pat Smith Law’s approach comes down to three things: Senior Counsel. Plain Language. Fair Dealing.
