PROBATE & ESTATE ADMINISTRATION

Someone you loved has died, and now there’s paperwork on top of everything else.

I’m Pat. If you’re the personal representative, the executor, or just the person everyone’s looking to for what happens next, this is one of the harder things to be handed, especially while you’re still grieving.

Pat Smith Law helps personal representatives and families in Thornton and the Denver metro area through probate and estate administration in Colorado, whether or not there’s a will, with fair and transparent billing and a free fifteen minute consultation.

In Colorado, the person in charge of settling an estate is called the personal representative, whether the will names you or the court appoints you. That role comes with real responsibilities: filing the will with the court, notifying creditors, valuing and protecting the estate’s assets, and eventually distributing what’s left to the people entitled to it. If there’s no will, there’s still a process, it just follows state law instead of one person’s wishes.

None of this has to be figured out alone, and it doesn’t have to be figured out all at once. I’ll walk you through what actually needs to happen, in what order, and handle the parts that need a lawyer, so you can focus on your family instead of a stack of court filings.

Billing is fair and transparent, agreed to upfront, so you’re not left wondering what this is going to cost on top of everything else. If you’ve just lost someone and don’t know where to start, give me a call.
